The IATF management certification aims to create a common set of methods and techniques for processes and product development alongside manufacturers in the automotive industry, all over the world.

The IATF 16949 certification focuses on continual improvement, reduction of waste, decreasing variations and defect prevention related to automotive processes so that everything produced meets exceptionally high customer standards and supply chain efficiency.

Relating to almost every aspect of automotive processes, the IATF 16949 takes into account the design, development, production, installation and servicing of automotive products and devices. 

Used in conjunction with ISO 9001, this quality management system keeps in strong communication with the ISO 9001 platform and can bridge the gap between automotive processes and customer-specific requirements from the automotive sector.

WHO ARE THE IATF?

The International Automotive Task Force are a collective of manufacturers within the automotive industry who aim to provide an enhanced and improved process and production line to worldwide consumers of their products.

Their objectives are listed below:

  • To define and develop a consensus regarding international fundamental quality system requirements, primarily for the participating companies’ direct suppliers of production materials, product or service parts or finishing services (e.g., heat treating, painting, and plating).
  • To develop policies and procedures for IATF third party registration scheme to ensure consistency on a worldwide scale.
  • To provide appropriate training to support ISO/TS 16949 requirements and the IATF registration scheme.
  • To establish formal liaisons with appropriate bodies to support the IATF objectives.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

  • Continual improvement of the effectiveness of the quality management system must be followed on a continuous basis to confirm suitability.
