First Aid

Employers’ legal duties

The Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. These Regulations apply to all workplaces including those with less than five employees and to the self-employed. What is ‘adequate and appropriate’ will depend on the circumstances in the workplace. This includes whether trained first-aiders are needed, what should be included in a first-aid box and if a first-aid room is required. Employers should carry out an assessment of first-aid needs to determine what to provide. At Clear Quality, we can provide bespoke first aid at work training to suit your needs in order for you to maintain a safe and secure workplace.

CPR and Defibrillator (AED) Course

Our CPR & AED (Defibrillator) First Aid Training Course will give you the knowledge and skills to deal with a cardiac arrest until the emergency services arrive.

A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time. A person’s chance of survival falls by about 10% for each minute that passes without defibrillation. There are more than 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK each year. The overall survival rate in the UK is less than 1 in 10.

The risk of death can be reduced if the first responders know how to recognise a cardiac arrest, carry out effective CPR and know how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Defibrillators are very simple to operate, no previous training is required to attend this course. If you are interested in furthering your emergency first aid skills, or already take part in an organised first aid scheme, then this course would suit you.

This course covers:

  • The role of the first aider
  • Managing an emergency
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Chest pains
  • Getting to know the AED (any type)
  • Operating the AED Treatment of an unresponsive casualty
  • Resuscitation (CPR)
